They hauled away the dead tree today and the hole left behind has become Rusty's favorite part of the yard. I'll choose a new tree at home depot this weekend and it will be short but it will be a tree. So we're getting better (and so is my attitude, by the way).
The kids and I had a fun day today. At one point I had one kiddo sitting on my tummy, while tickling another with my toes and the third was crawling on my face. It has been a good day. Not perfect but good even to this last little bit...
When the landscapers came to haul away the tree, I went to unlock the gate. That's when I realized that this was going to be a little awkward. One of the landscapers was ...ummm....a little hard to identify. How do I say this? Ok I'll just say it. I couldn't tell if they were a man or a woman. This person was so sweet and I enjoyed talking with them as they worked. But ... do I use he or she, him or her... SO awkward! But it turns out that the kids had formed their own opinions of the situation... and they were NOT in agreement. So RIGHT in front of this person...
Daughter: "No it's a girl. Right, Mommy?"
Son: "No him"
Daughter: "Mommy, it's a girl, right?"
Son: "No him" complete with pointing this time
Hey Rusty, have you got any room in that hole for me?
I see the humor in it now but at the time... not so much.
